Artist's Profile
Irma Argyriou was born into an artistic family in Germany . Her first exposure to the visual arts, mythology and religion was in the library of her father, an artist and restorer of paintings.
Her formal art education in Canada began in L'Ecole des Metier in Montréal , Quebec . There she was introduced to painting on porcelain, enamels on metal, drawing and painting, and this instruction continued for several years.
Moving to the West Coast, Irma continued her education by attending seminars at Pearson College and completing her Associate Arts degree at the Victoria College of Art. Subsequent studies culminated in a Masters Program Certification at VCA.
Irma's range of inquiry has included landscape, still life, and abstractions. Most recently her art practice has focused on a reinterpretation of archetypal classical myths from a modernist perspective.
